What are you?

Well.... it has more history than you could ever guess! This assignment has been a BLAST to accomplish. I picked a subject that's broad, but specific. I found more information than I ever would have thought possible. This pattern has made it's way through the ages starting in the highlands of Ireland and Scottland. It was started as a statement of independence from unwanted leaders then trickled it's way to the United States of America as a Lesbian movement. Their failure to be the sole users of plaid led to the plaid colored world we see today. If you're in a big gathering of people I challenge you to look around and count how many people are wearing plaid in that moment. I tried this and without fail there were at least 3 or 4 people wearing it, carrying it, or having it. It's everywhere you see!

This project has been particulary beneficial to me because I never knew what kind of work went into the dress industry to create annual fashions and designs! This pattern was no fluke of a sewing machine. We now see a broad spectrum of design, color and objects that it has been adhered to. This project has made me realize the history behind everything that I use these days. There is so much work that goes into the essentials such as toilet paper, clean water, electricity to give us light at night all the way to computers, airplanes, and cars. We would not be an advanced world if it weren't for specialization and people taking their part in society and having the will to succeed and invent to things. It ties right in with my studies as International Relations because this practice is so global, our world is too. Even the fact that I get to study International Relations and know what goes on in this world is phenomenal. I will most likely find plaid every country that I walk on and I can't wait to see just how global this world really is.
